Ms. Arnold has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, a master's in Social work, and is licensed in chemical dependency counseling. Before coming to Akins, she worked at a prison providing individual chemical dependency counseling, at the Travis County Juvenile Probation offices providing individual, group, and family counseling, and had a year-long special education counselor internship at a rural high school. Ms. Arnold is in her sixth year as Akins' social worker and loves working with the students at Akins. She provides counseling services both individually and group. Groups offered include: Healthy Relationships, Anger Management Group, Emotions Management Group, LGBTQ Support Group, Grief and Loss Group, Sober Living Support Group, Pregnancy/Parenting Support Group, and Girls Empowerment Group. Ms. Arnold can also match students with trained adult or peer mentors. She offers mediations to help resolve peer conflicts, and provides assistance if students needs resources such as school supplies, clothing, coats, and formal dresses for prom.
